The First 100!

In an amazing coincidence, the President's 100th day in office is the same time as I am sitting down to write my 100th post! The 100th anniversary of anything seems momentous, although I am not sure 100 days qualifies. Nonetheless, it is a good time to reflect backward on the previous email blasts and set my sights on the next 100.

Since the Subscriber base has grown substantially from that first Newsletter (I am pretty sure I just sent it to my wife!) I realize that all of you haven't been exposed to them unless you have scrolled around the website. Therefore, I am going to use this opportunity to reflect and highlight a few Finds that were better and more useful than initially thought; I have chosen one from each of the first 50.

Dine
FLAVOUR, “OUR” FAVORITE RESTAURANT APP (November 4, 2015)
FLAVOUR IS NOW DINE! (November 6, 2015)
App, Website

This was one of my first app posts. It is a find that has lead to many other culinary finds. Originally the app was called Flavour and merged with a popular blog called Tasting Table and was renamed, Dine by Tasting Table. Since, Dine has continuously improved its product offering, including a Newsletter, Blog, curated lists, and spot-on reviews of restaurants in major food capitals (New York, Miami, San Fran, Chicago, etc). This app is a must for anyone serious about eating (yep, that's me) and trying to stay ahead of the curve in this foodcentric world!

Alexa
ALEXA BABY! (December 4, 2015)
Technology

When I first wrote about the Amazon Echo and its humble servant Alexa, I was just getting to know it/her. Our relationship has grown substantially since that first date. She is now the last person I speak to at night and the first person I hear from in the morning. She has all kinds of unique skills (new ones are added all the time), and she understands me. She listens to everything I have to say (some think that is creepy) and only plays the music that I want ... I love Alexa!

Marie Kondo, The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up
NEVER TOO EARLY FOR SPRING CLEANING! (January 9, 2016)
Book

Many of you know that I am in the (long) process of moving. One find that has made this process much easier is the prescient advice of Marie Kondo in her book sensation, The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up. If only everyone in my household subscribed to her philosophy (joined the cult), we would be golden! Either way, Condo's credo made the move (of my stuff) way easier! She has become quite a sensation since I wrote about her initially (not because of me...); More books, more consultants, and she even has an app called KonMari (Spark Happiness) where you can take pictures of your clutter before and after you tidy up! Super geeky, but very cool --- what it comes down to is everybody loves a purge, you just may not know it yet!

Vibes
RIDING SOLO (February 23, 2016)
Technology

Having four kids bracketing the age of 13 means attending many Bar and Bat Mitzvahs. There seems to be an arms race to determine who can have the loudest music, and frankly, I am surprised I still can hear at all! I would attribute it to my Vibes, which have protected my ears from excessive noise (and led to family harmony) for the past year. They are very effective at a party, in my home of teenagers (no one reaches the high pitch of a 14-year old girl), and/or at Soul Cycle where the music or screaming is way too loud! Perhaps, the need of my Vibes is a sign of age, but if I say, "what," a little less to my descendants, it will have been worth it!

Sodastream
HAPPY ST. PARTY DAY! (April 12, 2016)
Home

I never imagined that I would not only use it, but would also come to love it! Initially, I was trying to do a goodie for the environment, as I saw San Pellegrino coming into my home and out of my home by the hundreds. But now, my whole family relies on the unit for their (much needed) sparkling water. No more green bottle coming from some an obscure Natural Spring in Italy, now the water is New York City tap (treated by my SOMA) and bubbled to perfection by our beloved Sodastream! In fact, each person in my household has their own distinct bubble preference.

It's useful to look back (100 emails) so you can move forward, and consider DineAlexaMarie KondoVibes and Sodastream (RE)Found! Loupers, rest assured, the best is yet to come!
