Here is the problem…You have dinner plans and you instinctively make a reservation at the same restaurant you were at the week before. You know that you can get in, the Maitre D’ may even know you, the food is good, and the service is solid. BORING!
Even if you wanted to venture out of your neighborhood, you wouldn’t know where to start. Wouldn’t it be great if there was an app that was a curated version of Zagat or Yelp? Well there is, and it is called Flavour. This app has led me to countless Finds as it is sortable by cuisine, location, and a variety of special features. More intriguing is that the suggestions are gathered from the best chefs, critics, and local experts/publications and not the average Joe.
Besides New York, it is a reliable resource in Austin, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, San Francisco, and Washington DC. Whether you are looking for Dim Sum in Ditmas Park, Souvlaki in Soho, or Vegetarian in the Meatpacking District, Flavour has some carefully edited selections for you.
It even allows you to search for special features including BYOB, Gluten free, Groups, Date, James Beard awards and even Michelin stars! It links you to Open Table or directly to the phone number of the restaurant. This app has opened my eyes, expanded my culinary horizons, and simplified my ability to find great restaurants!

P.S. Many of my best kept restaurant secrets have come from Flavour! Don’t be Norm(al), avoid places where “everybody knows your name.” Trust me. It’s worth it.
